Remember back about a month ago, how I posted that I was dropping
StarChoice, and going back to cable? Well today I get a call from SC
customer service wanting to know why I discontinued my programming. I
told them I didn't think it was worth it, for the amount I was going
to be charged under their new pricing plan, effective this month.
After much persuasion on their part, and repeatedly telling them "NO",
these clowns actually wanted to SEND A REPRESENTATIVE to my house to
"discuss it further". I told them to forget about it as I'm not
interested. They were so damn persistent in getting me to change my
mind. Finally I lost my temper and told them the truth. I said their
service and programming sucks, and that they are nothing but
ass-kissers for the CRTC and the government, and they can take their
so-called "can-con" regulations and shove it up their ass, to which I
then hung up the phone, much to the startled employee.

I usually save such outbursts for times when I get extremely
frustrated and upset, but this was one of those times. This whole
circus actually started last year when they brought in the new package
which featured the Discovery "Wings" Channel. After their promotion
period was up, I called customer service and was told that I couldn't
just subscribe to the "Wings" channel. Rather, I had to subscribe to
a bundle package which featured half a dozen different channels that I
didn't want, and probably would never watch. (for an additional
$6.99/month) Why couldn't SC make the Discovery Wings part of their
"pick and pay" channels? I don't want the friggen BBC for Kids, I
don't want "Animal Planet", I don't want the National Geographic
Magazine, I just want DISCOVERY WINGS damn it. But nosireee, I'm
forced to buy some stupid package full of stuff I don't want, just to
get my "Wings". I thought Satellite TV was all about what YOU want to
watch... Not being told what you can and can't watch, and what you can
and can't have. That, and other issues with SC (such as TWO 301
receivers going bad on me) and their yearly price increases, is what
finally made me pull the plug. I just don't think Canadian Satellite
TV is worth it. At least not in my opinion. The only thing I DO miss
about Satellite is the crystal clear picture, which admittedly
sometimes leaves a lot to be desired on cable. Other than that,
there's my rant. I CANNOT believe these companies are actually THAT
stupid, in that they were actually going to send a representative to
my house to try and talk me to going back to SC. Hell, I'm surprised
Sympatico didn't try to do that to me when I dropped them last year.
(The e-mail address I post with is now invalid) And don't even get me
started about that experience... (pure hell) Once again I say, GOODBYE
StarChoice and GOOD RIDDANCE.

It's not their regulations, they belong to the CRTC, and are bound by
all Canadian providers, Starchoice and otherwise.

Simply because it is a US channel.

But the cable comanies changed that, and demanded they suffer from
similar rules they did.

"You have a choice, Starchoice".

Yeah, I'm fuming too whenever they use that line...
